Graduated from Peking Union Medical College with an M.D. degree, Dr. Gong Mengchun entered Peking Union Medical College Hospital and accomplished the internal residency training, during which time he also worked in University of California, San Francisco as a visiting scholar.
On academic side, Dr. Gong joined the area of applied medical informatics since 2015 and now holds the positions including the Executive Director of the National Rare Diseases Registry System of China (NRDRS, www.nrdrs.org.cn), the Management Board Director of SNOMED International (www.snomed.org), the Diagnostic Science Committee member of IRDiRC (www.irdirc.org) and the Medical Informatics Consultant of the National Children’s Care Center/Fudan University Children’s Hospital. His research focus covers medical terminology/ontology, precision medical informatics, medical education, rare diseases and orphan drugs development. He is also actively engaged with the bioinformatics society in China and is currently a member of the executive committee of the Chinese Association of Bioinformatics.
On the industrial side, as one of the co-founders, Dr. Gong holds the position of the Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Informatics Officer of Digital China Health Technologies Co. (www.dchealth.com), which is the leading company in China in precision medicine IT solution, healthcare big data and real-world insights. The largest centralized healthcare data center, the National Cancer Big Data Platform of China, is built by DCHealth, in collaboration with the National Cancer Center of China, and Dr. Gong is leading the teams responsible for technology support, data safety and data standards, respectively.
